AI Won’t Steal Your Business (But Templates Might)

Everyone’s worried about AI stealing their voice. Meanwhile, they’re voluntarily giving it away to templates that make them sound like everyone else.

Think about it: When’s the last time you read a business email that began with “I hope this finds you well” and thought, “Wow, that really grabbed my attention!” Or saw another “I help X do Y so they can Z” Instagram bio and felt compelled to follow?

That’s what templates do: They make us feel safe while making us sound forgettable.

Don’t get me wrong. I love a good system. But there’s a massive difference between a template that tells you exactly what to say, and a framework that helps you say things only you could say.

Templates are like paint-by-numbers: Sure, you’ll end up with something that looks like art, but it’s the same art everyone else is making.

Frameworks are like learning composition and color theory: You get the principles of what works, then create something impossible for anyone else to replicate.

Here’s a real example:

TEMPLATE: “I help [ideal client] achieve [desired outcome] through [your method].”

FRAMEWORK: Ask yourself, “What makes me angry about my industry?”

Then, write the opposite of that. (That’s how I came up with “Teaching businesses how to sound like themselves, not their AI competitors.”)

See the difference?

The template makes you sound like everyone else. The framework makes you sound like yourself.

AI can replicate templates instantly. But it can’t replicate you thinking differently about your industry. It can’t replicate your specific frustrations, experiences, and insights.

That’s why I don’t give templates. I give frameworks that help you tap into what makes you different.

Because in a world where AI can write anything, the only thing it can’t write is you.

Want to sound different than your competitors? Stop trying to sound like them in the first place.
