The Power of Vulnerability in Building Audience
Ever notice how we all try to look perfect on social media?
I used to do this too. I’d only post about my wins, thinking that’s what would attract people. But you know what? It just made me feel fake, and it probably made some people feel like most of their own goals were unattainable.
Here’s a thought…what if we actually shared our struggles?
88% of people say they care about authenticity when choosing brands to support.
That’s huge. It means your audience is craving real, honest connections. They want the blooper reel, the behind-the-scenes footage, the “Oh sh*t, I hope no one saw that” moments. In a world where everyone’s shouting for attention, being genuine is your silver bullet.
So, how about we change things up a bit?
Here are three ways to get honest with your audience and see your loyalty grow:
1. Talk about your fails (Yep, even the big, embarrassing ones)
2. Share what you’re struggling with right now
3. Ask your audience for help (they’ll love being part of your story)
Trust me, showing your vulnerable side isn’t going to make you look weak. It’s going to make you relatable.
Why does this work so well?
Simple…it builds trust, creates stronger connections, and makes you stand out from all the “perfect” people out there.
I can’t tell you how many times I hit “send” on a big email only to have that feeling of dread creep in when I realized there was no subject line or accidentally misspelled a client’s name (I’m sure there are errors in this post, too!)
When you start sharing stories of your failures, you often get a collective “Oh good, it’s not just me.”
Our so-called “imperfections” are actually our superpowers. They make us human.
And in a world of polished online personas, being human is refreshing.
