The Content Creation Myth That’s Keeping You Stuck

The most shared content in my feed last month wasn’t from the person who posted most frequently. It wasn’t from the person with the biggest following, the fanciest camera, or even the most consistent strategy.

It was from someone who hadn’t posted in 6 weeks.

That’s when I realized that not everything we’ve been taught about what it takes to succeed with content creation is true.

The prevailing wisdom says that more content equals more success. Post three times a day! Write a blog post every week! Send daily emails! Never miss a Monday! The pressure to constantly create has turned into a hamster wheel of mediocrity, where we’re all running faster but going nowhere.

I know, because I spent years sprinting on that wheel.

I’d wake up at 6:30 AM to batch content. Schedule posts weeks in advance. Create elaborate content calendars that would make a wedding planner weep. And you know what happened?

Crickets. Nada. The occasional pity like from my mom (but really mom, please don’t stop liking my posts.)

Then something strange occurred. Recently, I stepped back to reassess my strategy — when my posting frequency plummeted to near zero — my response rate went up! One thoughtful post or…
